That is awesome Ben mate! I'm assuming the rattle spins the allthread with a hidden scale/weight nut behind the plates we can't see, GOLD :-) !! (Phone screens too small ;-) )
No weights. Just some solid round bar which is an offcut from a trailer stub axle which has 2 flat edges, dilled and tapped and welded to one of the plates,
The square bar sits on bearings. As it shifts along the square bar the weight shifts and tilts.

First pics didn't give it justice from my screen, fair dinkum well done mate!!
Excellent bit of kit. You can even get the angle of the dangle perfect. Will be putting that on my to do list. I reckon with a little bit of tweaking it could also be used to hold axles clear of the seals as they're slid in.
