they are marron,fresh water crayfish..suppose to be endemic to WA,but if you read abit of literature from some unis apparentley they are over in nsw and most here are the same species,but hey they won't let that get in the way of charging people 40 bucks a year for a licence to go catch em for a 3 week period,i am lucky enough to have dams on the farm eith them in,free and i can eat them all year

@Avo Ive eaten Marron when I lived in Perth early 70's then I met up with a guy in Darwin
raving about Gulgies , so now I know they are the same, WTF $40 for a licence sure know how to charge
Still very good eating lol
