Thought about that but being apple it looks like some special cable that probably cost more than what the laptop is worth

Yes it will be a special cable. Take a photo of the port and the laptop. I will have the right cable. You might have to wait but I would be happy to send it up to you at some point.

It would just be MINI display port wouldn't it ? Do you have Jaycar near you ? They should have an adapter to any other screen you have. HDMI etc...
