Am hoping the postie gets his act into gear and delivers a long awaited parcel to us today.
The crew at Hillbilly Forge have been busy recently working on some project blades for me to finish off with some nice leatherwork. They've also almost finished a matching hatchet to complete their set as well.
It includes 2 bushcraft knives for them and through their generosity, they've also forged 2 for me as well.
A general duties bushcraft tracker knife and a matching big brother to be used for heavy duty work like chopping wood etc out bush like a machete.
Freshly forged and tempered prior to polishing and edging.

Changed the design a tad
Now the big question what to use for the scales [handle]
Keep in mind I still have to acid etch the blade to bring
it back to life, I have some streaky buff which is black with
white streaks, Rams horn very rustic or camel bone
HHmmmmmmm it will all fall in place once I start

@MB First thing is protect yourself from cuts, cause buffing a knife can rip it out of your hand very easily
First Ive taped over the cutting edge a few times with thick tape and put a tip protector on.
finger grooves have been fashioned and smoothed out using a finger file.
File work next..

heres my one of my favorite tools of all time
the old B&D finger file, boy has this done some work.
Not sure if my file work is finished yet, will look in the morning
and thats my choice for scales, The ram horn finishes off much better
than that brown scaley look, also the damascus will be more prononced
once I hit it with some acid
