Yes I have a home made rooftop camper (not by me). Found it on ebay about 5 years ago. Always wanted a rooftop camper but didn't want to spend the $$$ that the maggiolinas etc were going for. (and they're too heavy IMO). This one is awesome quality made from aluminium checkerplate, all corners welded. Heavy canvas with skirts so sheds water perfectly during rain. Huge internal flaps both sides and at end for variable ventilation. Insect screens all round. Not sure how much it weighs but is light (i can lift it up and down by myself, albeit a little ungainly!). Probably about 30kg. I lined it inside top and bottom with marine carpet so condensation isn't an issue any more. I don't feel it offroad or on the highway and makes no wind noise. Mattress, doona and pillows stay in there. Set up in 30 seconds. Pack up in about 2 minutes. Gas struts need replacing. You wont see me in a swag again!

Roof top tent has always been my #1 dream of having one day for camping etc... The sheer bulk and price of one always deterred me.
But something like this Plasnart is very cool indeed.

Yeah i originally wanted a rooftop tent but they were too bulky for me and too heavy. This is a lightweight slimline solution. I can go nuts offroad without a large load swinging around up there, but everythings a compromise. A rooftop tent would be more spacious and comfy.

Yeah Plassy has the best rooftop tent I have seen. I like it a lot!

The only thing I don't like about it is you can't have direct privacy awnings like you can with a fold out RTT..
But.. it is simple and lightweight, virtually a swag on the roof..

Never been a fan of any RTT but Plasnarts looks ok, but you still need to climb up and down a ladder.
@Plasnart if its only you up top sleeping,, can I suggest either a hospital pee bottle ,, or make up a hose and funnel
so it reaches under the Patrol.
That one in the link I put is 75kg plus say 3 x roof bars to support it.

Plus my one is fully self sufficient with onboard water [55ltrs] onboard 12v power,[100ah]
with plenty of solar to back it up, plus a MP3/USB for some late night tunes
