    No brake lights at all

    Hey guys.

I have another question, j have a 97 2.8td andi have no brake lights at all. Any suggestions?

I have checked the fuses and the bulbs, i plan on getting a multi meter tomorrow and checking if there is any current running.

A guy from work was saying that it could be the senor from the brake pedal that has stuffed up.

If anyone has had this or has any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers Damo

Re check your fuses for sure. Swap it to be sure. Start with the multimeter.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

The little plastic stoppers that activate the brake light switch on the pedal can get brittle and break. Then the switch cannot be actuated by it.

    What NN said ^^^

If bulbs and fuses are OK next most common culprit is the switch high up on the back of the brake pedal

If it is the switch on the brake pedal where can you get a replacement?

    G'day Daymian,
generally (or at least sometimes), those switches are effectively 'generic' and will be available from any auto parts shop and possibly even an electronics shop.
See if you can easily pull off the wire connectors and simply take it to the shop. With luck it won't be difficult. Otherwise, may have to wait for a guru to help.
    Luck,
    Col.
