I've been hesitant to update to Windows 10. I get pop up reminders all the time so should I? Worried about information loss. I consider myself as a bit of an IT nuffy. In reality I probably have a moderate understanding of computers but when it comes to the nitty gritty my eyes glaze over. Many people on here have a far superior understanding of the technical stuff than I do.
Try this if you want to get rid of all the crap from MS. I wont use 10 in a hurry, Win7, OSX and Debian for me...

Hmm don't think so, it's a different command something like "cpanel userpassword2" but I can't remember that one exactly because I don't use often

Windows 8.1. Browser?? Is that Explorer? I use Explorer for emails, banking, payroll, accounting software etc, but have found it non-compatible for this forum and Youtube. I use Chrome for these. Should I use Chrome for everything? I've heard people slagging off Explorer but never understood why. Is there a reason?

Would it really matter? not like he is using for a gaming machine, or graphic design, or anything else that sounds power hungry.

I pressed the windows button and "r" and typed in that code. There are 3 lines come up and I am listed as "HomeUsers" and "HomeUsers; Administrators". No idea what this means. Why would I want to be a non admin account? Conversely, why would I want to be an admin account? I don't understand what this means or the repurcussions of such.

PS, tell me if I'm putting any sensitive info up on a public forum and if I could compromise PC security by putting this up.

Definitely not a gamer. I don't suck a lot of data on gaming, movies, etc but do watch youtube a bit.

Explorer in the mid-naughties was the most popular browser and thats why hackers focused on it. Its ironic that as MS has improved its security it has declined in popularity. Their new browser Edge (only supported with Win10) will replace it anyway so you might as well stay with what you have got now. Just keep doing all the updates from MS and stay away from dodgy sites and you should be fine.
