Not as much as my son.

Finally have a clear answer on his ankle and it not the best news for a kid.

A tear to a ligament. Has been told to hang up the boots for the year.
It's a shame as he now has to give up a couple of opportunities that he has worked hard for. A change for a place in the representative squad for the EDFL and the Western Jetts.

I'm going to speak to his local footy clubs coach to see if he can still be part of the team and continue with training at a limited capacity, maybe training with whoever is carrying an injury that week. I think he needs to be there, he seems a little lost.

Speaking to the development coach at the Jetts tonight he gave my son the reassurance that he will be looked at for next year's squad, as long as we keep him up to date with his progress.

It's not the end of the world, but for someone who lives for sports, it's going to take a bit of getting used to.

I've told him to use the next 12 months as an advantage. Get your ankle 100%, work on your fitness and strength. Then next year you'll be fit, strong and have the hunger of 12 months of football that's been burning to get out.

What a bummer. He can still keep his fitness up while resting his ankle. Good idea staying involved with the club while recovering.

I'm lucky to still own my Old Trol. Heading out of town today I glanced at my rear view mirror and witnessed a tool on a motor bike just barely complete a mono just metres behind me. He flashed past doing well over a hundred in an 80 zone. He only had on a T shirt and jeans too. Man I gotta get a dash cam.
My advice is: not to follow my advice.

Found out today that my trusted mechanic is shutting shop due to not enough work to pay the bills, real shame as he is a top bloke to boot, all this due in part to the big slowdown in WA, I feel for him as he has worked the last 10 yrs to actually come out way behind what he started with and no job. The government and movers and shakers over here have squandered the huge profits they made during the heady mining boom days, I even have major competition closing down near me too from a chain of stores, good for me but bad for them and their employees, I also heard Alcoa just put off 700 people as well, not good.
