    NigeP's GU

Wanted to keep a track of my 2000 GU ZD30TDi as it undergoes changes over the next few months and thought this would be a great place to do that and get advice along the way.
First pics are as she came to me in August 2015 at the front and rear of our place in the Adelaide Hills.
As yet I haven't changed anything.

Had a bit of time this morning so having had the engine warning light come on intermittently over the last week or two since the weather has really warmed up I did a manual code read.
    Got the following
    0102 - MAF Sensor
    0301 - ECM2 Failure
    0403 - Accelerator Position Sensor
    0703 - Fuel Injection Pump
    0707 - Injection Timing Control
    1401 - Anti Theft System.

Having no idea how long since the codes were cleared I have no way of knowing which are current and which are historic.
I've cleared the codes so if I have another warning light I will be more able to identify where it is coming from.
In the meantime I'm off to get a can of MAF sensor cleaner. I can't see that doing any harm.

Also check the alternator, when you clean the MAF disconnect the battery for 1/2hr or so.
Thats a lot of codes ET will be able to sort you out Im sure
I think you need to invest in an ECU-talk OBD2 diagnostic display

Yeah, a few more codes than I was expecting but as I said I have no idea when they were last cleared. Car came from an older couple and had an engine replacement 15000km ago and last couple of services done by a family member of theirs.
I cleared the codes now following the instructions in YNOT's thread and get a 0505 - No error codes reading.
Will check the alternator as suggested and had intended to leave battery disconnected overnight.

Yep gauges first IMO then any mods you do can be monitored.

Cleared all codes and headed out to pick up MAF Cleaner Spray.
Picked up some Injector Cleaner while I was there.
Cleaned the MAF Sensor and poured some cleaner into the tank.
Headed out yesterday and 10km down the road on an easy run the MIL lights up. Did about 100km all up with 3 or 4 stops. Light came back on shortly after restarting each time.
Read code last night 0707 - Injection Timing Control.
A little research tells me this could indicate a number of things from Bad Fuel, Fuel Filter all the way up to Injectors and Fuel Pump.
Had to head out again this morning up through the hills, a much more taxing run than yesterday and no warning light.
Assuming the injector cleaner has worked a little magic. Will run some more through with the next tank of fuel and then do a filter change.
