    Towing question

    Hi all,

I wasn't sure where to post this so apologise if I missed the mark.

After a fair bit of negotiating, I have purchased a campertrailer from a bloke in Victoria.

    This is it here:

    http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/seafo...215970?ref=ais

We are thinking of driving over to pick it up around Nov. I have asked him for photos of the trailer pin (I know Vic and WA are different) so will likely need to buy one of those converters for now.

Now to the question. I have a 2" lift kit and was wondering what the best way is to compensate for the trailer not having it? Do I not bother for now or do I need to get a tow ball that's dropped a bit? Slightly longer term, I might lift the trailer to match, but in the interim, what's a good idea?

    Pete

You can turn the tongue upside down and re-bolt your towball on top.
Thats how I get my camper trailer even,
Your tongue if a class 2 Hayman reese style will have a 50mm difference

Is your axle over or under the spring?? Putting it under will give you a couple of inches extra height...easy conversion too.
Also, see if you can get same wheel/tyre as the Patrol on it, saves caring extra spares

EDIT: assuming itsa leaf spring configuration

Thanks Lads. In the first instance, I'll go with 3D's. It's a standard Hayman Reece style so it should do the trick.

Just a thought, If you lift the camper to much the tent won't reach the ground anymore.

Yep good point. I was able to do it to mine as it had enough height to spare
If you go down this path
LaughingBeagles you'll need to make sure you have enough tent...LOL

As far as Vehicle Trailer Plugs go I use 12 pin flat

You then fit the Trailer with either 7 pin (under 750 KG and no aux services IE trailer has stop tail and indicators only) or 12 pin (over 750 Kg or has Aux services IE eleccy brakes, aux batteries etc)

12 pin flat accepts a 7 pin flat and has the same pin assignments so no adapters needed.
12 pin also has the maggy switch to tell vehicle Canbus etc that a Trailer is connected and/or disables reversing sensors
Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish.
