What is the redline for a TD42?

What is the redline for a TD42? I have a 2000 GU which had a heart transplant being a 1990 silver top turbo, as the truck was originally a 3.0 ZD and still has all the original guages would like to know where I can safely rev it to... Also is it normal for it to blow smoke when I hit the pedal and it boosts up to 12PSI?

Don't know, mine won't really rev over 3,000rpm on the road... Think it went to 3,200rpm once.

You dont have over revving as such, they are a mechanically governed pump. Once the governor takes over it wont rev any more

    Thanks Benny, didn't know that.

I'm hoping mine will be capable of seeing 4,200 soon.
    Cheers Rod

Thats interesting. I turn mine to 4200-4500 each time I drive it. My redline on my dash is at 4500.

Rodney you mentioned your s won't go above 3000-3200. How is it different to mine as I can easily drag a gear out to 3500-4000 range on road.
