    Diy wd40

G,day everyone,as a Mowing Contractor I find that I use quite a lot of WD40 especially on my trailer hinges, towball area's etc but it is quite expensive in spray can form so I make my own recipe which last's me way longer and is way cheaper than your can stuff!

    Ingredients:500 grams White grease
    500 mls Motor Oil
    4 Litres Turps

Start by getting out the camp stove in the garage (No,I would not setup in the kitchen lads as the "Boss" will not be happy!) You will also need a old cooking pot, heat the motor oil up enough to melt the white grease down and give it a stir then allow mixture to cool down and then stir in your turps, makes 5 litres of WD40.I wait till supercheap has oil specials and by the cheapie stuff for my home brew. Also just add more of the white grease if you want a more stick on type WD40 or less if you want it more penetrating but keep in mind with thickening it is harder to spray out of sprayer.I was going to add some lanolin as well but at this stage not needed as I find this recipe serves my purpose

I got my white grease from a local servo but usually from places that sell bulk oil supplies etc you could try repco or maybe auto pro stores!

How about using diesel instead of the turps in this recipe for spraying to deter rust and even fish oil instead of oil though quite a bit dearer?

All of the above would work I would say!But I just tried keeping it as cheap as possible for myself,I like the diesel idea Wizard, that's got to be cheaper than the Turps!
