The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.
WARNING: Towballs used for recoveries can, and do kill people and damage property.

Yeah I know, but I am very wary of these. Having said that I haven't seen them myself, only the maxtrax. Theres a mob in Bayswater selling them for $109 a pair. IF, I get my car back today, tomorrow I might go for a drive out to Bayswater and have a look see. I don't really want to be spending anymore $$$ right now, but I don't want to run the risk either of beaching the car. I have a shovel, which I'll take. I have never driven on sand before so I kinda want to be prepared.
Drop ya tyres to 18 psi and you will go any where , 20 years of going there , only been stuck once at inskip , towing 2t and bad gear choice and first time with the diesel, was used to petrol , i use high range pretty much everywhere , nigala bypass is the only bit that gets ordinery , indian head is a walk in the park with tyres at 18 , i avoid eli at high tide as the salt washes up the creek to where the cars park ,
If ya not using it buy a prius .....
Join a 4WD club. Most clubs (like ours) have a collection of equipment that you only need once in a blue moon, that members can borrow for free. Saves having all that junk piled up in the shed (just in case) that you may never use again.
Thanks for all the tips guys. I've driven on sand plenty of times before and I agree its low probability of getting bogged but I've recovered that many clowns in the Blue Mountains over the years I just never want to be that bloke with NFI that can't help himself out of a jam.
BillsGU thanks for the club tip. I've been meaning to get around to joining one.
