Hmmm you guys are starting to scare me. Might have to look at putting a tent on my POD.

Sent an email to the manufacturer and he replied to just bring it into the factory and they could do it. Just sent another email pointing out he is in Victoria and I am in WA. Trying to find out if they do a kit.

Its seems mate that the WA MDC guys are good. Their rep here in Melbourne, and from what I have read in QLD, is in tatters. Ray's dropped the line because of issue with them here in Melbourne. They are a cheap/er trailer, you do get what you pay for. But even though they are cheaper than other known branded trailers, doesn't make it ok for things to go wrong in my eyes. I forked out around 14k for our trailer and have spent around $1500 on top. About $500 of it was buying things just to fix up their stuff ups, not to mention the amount of hours doing all this.
Its still a good trailer, no doubt. Well built, or designed I should say. Its just their assembly left a lot to be desired.
    Just keep this in mind.

PML at the $$$$$ paid for a trailer and a tent,
BA may trump everyone building his own.
IMO $14k plus for a trailer/tent is ridiculas.
Not sure what other options are better,
but sellers are laughing all the way to the bank
Sort of like lures catch more fisherman than fish
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there

Hi 4bye4. They do make a couple of camper options for the pod trailer. A rear folding quick tent and a side folding tent that is a little larger. There is a dealer here in SA (The Dirt 4WD) that sells them I have put a link in to their site.

The other advantage is that you will have a very light and fuel efficient set up compared to the MDC which is a traditional steel trailer type of set up. Corrosion resistant as well!

Thank for the link mate - I have been talking to the manufacturer in Vic. The want $9995 for the tent and a new top plus postage. Good quality Southern Cross material but still out of my budget at this time. I would thing that the lick to Sa company will be just an onseller of the Vic manufacturer so price will not be much different.

Anything quality in this industry costs a sh1te load. How much would the MDC cost? Surely over $10000?
Maybe a good second hand Aussie built camper might be the go.

    That's what I've done and it's a decision I don't think I'll ever regret.
Paid a damn site less than what a new MDC or similar would cost, may not have all the gadgets but the trailer and the tent are a lot better quality.

Thanks mate - it's not done to mention a ladies age, but lets say I'm 64 and my missus is the same age as me. Surfboard cover on the beach just ain't gonna hack it.Best for her would be luxury hotel in each town, me I don't mind so much. Somewhere in between is what we need to do. Rock Trol asked how much MDC stuff cost. Cheapest one is about $5000. and not worth it. Without starting a blog about shonkey advertising, they advertise $3999, $4999 etc, but when you add the extras like spare tires, kitchen and things it gets more expensive. $3999 for instance pretty much gets you a trailer, built from flat pack and minimum quality and size tent on top. I was never going into the basic model. I revived the thread because they had a name for falling apart and I wondered if they had improved. Appears not. Anyway its interesting to see what people think and recommend and I am watching all replied. Incidentally, I can understand that if you buy cheap you may have to tweak a bit and tighten a few bolts, but axles mounted off straight, well that got to be almost unroadworthy in my mind. I'd be pissed if I got yellowed as I drove home from the store.

I used to camp with a trailer and a tent John. Two very different things. In many ways. Theres no way you can compare, or relate moreso a trailer and a tent to camper trailer.
