You'll be right jono, I've done a fair bit solo, just pick ur route. . . . I've heard Barkly River Jeep track is a good short cut track through to Woods Point. Good scenery and family friendly. . . .

$40 per adult... i like the idea of not having to stuff around with camp gear and after a long day 4wding you can have a feed a meal and pass out then the next day have a shower pack a few things away and off you go.

Yeah good track but not so family friendly. And not much time to look at the scenery!!
Seriously tho through should be right through donnelys ck via either South rd (2WD Rd) or Cobb Spur tk. Could also go over Jameson - Licola rd to Jameson (a fair bit of dirt tho) or down Snake Edwards which is easy as long as the river is low which it should be. Wouldn't take Lazarini spur & Black River track solo (bit more remote & ruff). A few options but Donellys Ck is probably best bet. Lots of things to look at on the way through. The weather should be reasonable hopefully.

No problems at all mate. If you're nervous then maybe stick to the main tracks, then if something does happen it won't be long before someone comes along.

You just did Rocky Track ..... if you can do that, then the whole high country is a breeze

In all seriousness, just take care, and you will be fine - I go on my own regularly and don't usually have too much trouble .....

Also remember, rain here in Melbourne doesn't necessarily mean that the tracks are wet up in the hills. The tracks will still be pretty good - half a day of sunshine and you would never know it has rained.

We did a loop on last years Queens Birthday Weekend through Burgoynes Gap and back to Cheynes Bridge, when our trip plans got mucked around waiting for 3 hours for a broken down cruiser, and then the rest of his party of around 15 trucks, on Butcher Track, so we got creative and changed our plans .... It was super slippery last year, and we all let our tyres down to 18 PSI for extra grip, and that made sure we were good ( well mostly - there was a couple of minor moments for 1 of the other trucks in our party )
GU PATROL 2011 Ti, with goodies...
