Having a tube in a tyre??

So Last weekend cost me a puncture right where the tread meets the side wall and dropped off tyre to get a patch.

Now they fitted a patch but said as it was on the side wall it needed a tube?? How does this affect me 4wding and what are they like to air down?

It looks like if I air down and spin a tyre on the bead it will rip the valve out.

You are correct about it ripping the valve out.

Try to minamise tyre spin whilst running low presures, maybe even run a little higher then normal. Grab a couple valves from super cheap and keep them in the car just incase.

should only be a last resort scenario imo painfull as it is
surprised the tyre guy put a patch on it
very dangerous to,, try and source a similar tyre and tread depth
much safer

Well that is going to be hard... km1 and my spare is a federal which is a touch larger... fricking poo... heading off on Friday and this sucks.

i have run Simex HD Tubes in my Simex tyres for 10 years, would not run them any other way unless on Beadlocked rims. Tubes are AWESOME.

I run my Simex at 18psi as standard and for 7 years Never Ever popped a bead or got a puncture on a rim on the GQ. 18psi anywhere any time.

a couple of years ago started running them at 15psi and ripped a valve every trip out. drove me nuts. run them at 18 and happy days mate.
