    It's very odd that the pc doesn't see your phone, I dare say that more damage has occurred than just the the smashed screen. Quite possibly damaging the electronics and frying the sd card.

    The screens been broken for about 6 months though and photos/ sd card working fine till now

    hmmmm curious, so you can still see the phones screen and only the glass is broken. Did you unmount the the sd card before removing?

    Yea only the glass is broken not the screen as such, no I just popped the battery out and pulled the sd and sim out like I usually do

    some apps use the SDcard, so if an app was accessing the card while the card was being taken out without being unmounted first, then that will more than likely corrupt files. Not usually a problem if unmounted first, well it hasnt been for me

    ouch. thats alot of pics mate, just as a rule you should never rely on removable media IE SD cards as a storage medium, they are too easily damaged. my mate who runs a photography business sees this all too often. he uses SanDisk RescuePRO to recover files for customers. its a paid for program but you get what you pay for
