    Reverse sensor questions

    Hi All,

I searched around and found several places offering reverse sensor (supply and installation), for around $300 - $400 mark. I'm interested in those because the cost to get that done at Nissan garage is double (I'm not bagging Nissan dealers as I know all dealers fitting "original accessories" will charge much higher).

So, I wonder if anybody who knows this can share info, provide advice / suggestions:
    - recommended spots / places to install the sensors on the bumper (4 sensors). I also know the better products can be "programmed" to "ignore" the towbar
    - any personal experience with specific products and/or installers (I live South of Sydney)

    Thanks and regards,

For that money I would think you could fit a rear camera.
I have 4 rear sensor reverse beams for about $20 I dont use them
and so far have found I dont need a reverse camera or iPod mount LOL

JB Hi Fi charge $100 a camera to install you supply the camera ,leads etc.

I fitted my own. Kit from Ebay with 4 sensors and dash indicator cost $56 from memory.
I could post up some pics tomorrow.
I also added a small cutout switch in the right rear so they don't work when I have the trailer on.
    I find they work well.

Thanks guys for the quick replies and suggestions. Some photos would be great, especially on the exact locations of the sensor. The off switch is another good suggestion.
    Cheers,
    Jon

$79 for a reverse camera with screen from Repco, all plug and play, fitted it at home.
One of the better 'cheap' mods I've done.

Here's where I fitted mine.. Had to paint the outer sensors to match.

The outer sensors are easy because you only need to drill the plastic but you have to drill through the metal support for the inner sensors.

    This is the Ebay kit

I also have a reversing camera that I use mainly for my towball. I prefer to be checking my mirrors and listening as the audible signal beeps faster as you approach something..
