GU 3.0 water pump
Anyone had issues with a GU 3.0 water pump.
Looks like mine is leaking-still pulling parts off to see

UPDATE 21/07/14
Finally got half the car apart--seems like there is a leak between the front engine cover and the block. There appears to be a steel gasket and the leak APPEARS to be there. A nightmare to remedy as about half the engine needs to come off.
Anyone have any ideas??

not me. Done about 170K and all is good, touch wood.Dumb question but you are leaking/losing coolant (whatever colour) not oil or any other fluids?

Iv replaced mine not too long ago, was no leaks, still no leaks.
$160 for a water pump.

Not a lot of Long trips, but they usually ar really long.
Further investigation suggests a leak around the front engine housing--steel gasket and no reason why. I will keep folks appraised of the final outcome.

Definitely coolant--green and right viscosity. Also fluid tanks are losing levels.

aside from leaks how would you know if your water pump is due for replacement?
The water pump was not the issue-turns out there was a leak between the engine block and front engine cover (behind the alternator)--really ugly fix.Originally Posted by nikko mercado
I replaced the water pump while there was easy access--done 90,000 so not worth the risk. Old one seems fine though.
