Top mounts are ok and that is all. Getting airflow to a top mount is the biggest drama and then it sits directly on top of a heat source. Once the core gets heat soak it's very hard to get it out again therefore making the cooler less efficient. Probably the only real advantage to a top is the path is very short between turbo and manifold.
Front mounts will constantly be seeing cool air in most instances. While the path is a little longer you get the benefit of a muh more efficient item.
