Back up towards the water, as soon as you hear someone coming from the other side quickly back in and then drive out.
Wait till they see your wet tyre marks and then watch them cross, if they make it then do a Uturn and follow their path.
Actually it will be so busy up there you'll find plenty of people to follow across.
