I loved my set of Max Trax in the sand. Took them on a week long trip and we used them several times for a quick exit where we would have done lots of digging and or winching otherwise. Quality was good, but after about 3 years of reasonable use they were getting worn. Mostly by other friends. We mainly used road tyres as we were pretty much only doing sand. A few times I couldn't quite get through to a friend to go just as slow as possible. He absolutely gunned it, so it really wore down the first "teeth" on them (and left half his tyre on the max trax). They wouldn't really pull in properly after that. Weren't completely useless, but not as good. I left them behind in Saudi for a friend. I have been looking again here, but just don't have the cash for them now, so will use the shovel for the time being. It was a bit easy to "break" them so I think I'll probably go the cheaper ones if I ever get through other things on my wish list.

Though this has no mention of treds nor the genuine maxtrax I thought it was an interesting comparison http://china4x4accessories.com/product_show.asp?pid=311

    Gday all,

Has anyone tried the old spud bag filled with whatever you are bogged in as a poor man's version of a maxtrax. Seems like a good idea. There is a crowd selling them as bog bags, but I would just go to the local farm suppliers for the same thing.

I've got Maxtrax set, I only used them to get others out, they're ruined already by the fecks, trying to explain to them not to gun it they won't listen....
For me they're last resort when all else fails (shovel, snatch etc.)

    Cheers

It actually "does" cover genuine maxtrax Troy, it just they are the version one, don't think treds where around when it was written 6 years ago ?

My question is I suppose is there really a $100 more quality in the Maxtrax, or just $100 more marketing. Any experience in either brand would be welcomed.
I think with any of these type recovery/traction aids, the main thing is to try not to wheelspin or youll friction burn the bloody lugs off

IF YA DONT GET STUCK YA AINT TRYIN HARD ENOUGH........OR YA TOOK THE CHICKEN TRACK
