    Newbie 2008 GU

    Hi everyone,
Well i have had my GU 3.0L crd since birth in 2008.
From dealer with less than 500kms on her she was dressed in lots of new clothes. I traded an old 2001 GU with sick motor in so had taken lots of goodies off that GU to put on the new one.
Strong Arm rear bar was the first item put on (as i hate the rear hanging on the door). From the dealer it came with Bull bar, towbar, driving lights, bonnet and headlight protector, weather shields and dust deflector.
Suspension lift (Terrain tamer) and cargo barrier also went in. Because we had an 18month old i also put canvas seat covers in the back. Chucked (well neatly stored) the 2 back seats and replaced with a false floor (steel frame with play and marine carpet). This allowed me to bolt fridge slide in and also custome make some draws which can be bolted in too. this was necessary so as to enable access to rear child anchor points.
Next to come was ibs dual battery controller and dual battery tray in the front. Winch was added and of to my mates shop to fit snorkel and long range tank.
All this beacuse we were off to central australia.
Last year i rekon one of the best mods was done...Taipan exhaust. With it a pyro guage and Auton dual battery guage in a pillar pod. Oh and its had a scan guage to for about 4 years which has been good.
Now we have 2 kids it has dual 9" DVD head rests. When i first had it i put in a VMS head unit, but 4 years ago put in a DIG options unit (with reverse camera), which IMO is way better than VMS. The unit also has an integrated TPMS unit fitted also. I had a 4.8 patrol a few years back which had a Brown Davis front bash plate (sold the car), kept the bash plate which in now on the 3.0L.
Since putting on the exhaust i rekon fuel eco is much better. Towed Kingston camper (1.2T) to Hunter valley and back to vic over christmas last year and averaged 14L/100. I rekon this is at least 3L/100 better than b4 exhaust upgrade.
For off roading i use Procomp 16" black steelies.
Should also point out had dash, accelerator peddal and and the stupid wheel nut thingy all replaced under the Nissan recall/problem stuff. But what amazes me is that, probably like other manufacturers, they push the torque figures that wheel nuts should be done up to (to prevent the dredded left rear issues), but fail to ensure there is a torque wrench in the car when u purchase it to ensure these figures are met.
