Thank you to you all for your valuable information. I was having a talk with a diesel mechanic in town and have had quite a few people mention this place to me and I asked a lot of questions and some of his answers gave me a better understanding about my few little issues. One thing that did grab my attention was that he pulled the injector pump out of a car put a reconditioned one back in and because he was teaching a couple of apprentices at the time he properly checked the pump several times before he put it back in the car he new it was right, however when he got it all plugged in the engine light came on again. After doing thorough checks he found that the crank sensor was setting off the engine light. I think he said it was running at a very low voltage but was making it show up as the pump not working properly. I hope that's all mine is but the more I read and the more I talk to others, I'm beginning to think it just might be the pump at fault that is causing my drop in power and maybe the white smoke too.

On another note. To answer my original question, after receiving so much valuable knowledge from everyone here, I have come to the conclusion that the vehicle is not a lemon, despite the fact I do currently have a few little issues to sort out, but comes down to more of a driver ignorance or maybe unawareness of certain things that could be done to the vehicle to help it perform at its best for longer. I shall endeavor to keep you all updated on how things are progressing and will try to get some pics up soon of current issues and of the car itself.

They are a pretty good motor if looked after and the right provisions are out in place so you don't end up blowing it up

I had mine lose power and would have to press accelerator twice to get it to go anywhere from take off once I was moving it was fine, turned out to be my accelerator pedal position sensor, called nissan and almost died they wanted $610 plus gst for the part I rang a company in Revesby NSW and got one for $220 and no more dramas
