I Don't know if its just me but I always think that stealing a blokes tools is bloody low.
I have been a tradesman for 32 years and am very protective of my tools. I was discussing tools with the guys at work yesterday and telling them I am proud of the fact that I still own a lot of the tools I got as an apprentice and one of the guys said that he had never lost a tool until his work van was broken in to and every tool he owned was stolen. You have to be total scum to steel tools.

Mate couldn't agree more. Not gonna lie when I was younger we use to steal some material from job sites but never touched the tools and use to make sure no one else did either. Bit sad about it really and insurance wont cover "tools of trade" cause thats a different policy the fact that I dont use the tools for work does not matter as alot of the tools are specialized to a trade *didnt know you had to be a builder to use a hammer*
1996 GQ 2.8TD 3" straight though, draws and oh so much more
Some low life scum bags stole my tools out of my car once while i was parked in the car park of a ferry terminal while i was working on a ferry but because i was there for the company i worked for at the time i was able to claim them on the companys insurance. Bloody lucky cause the replacement cost was over $5000.

My old man had his old work ute stolen one day, scumbags took all the tools and left the ute. Turned out to be an old apprentice of his that he sacked for being useless and lazy.
Had my tool box stolen in Alice years ago, they paid my way, no tools no job.
Had to return to Melb Pissed right off never did get them back, very protective of tools now.
Happy to say I have a good overall selection. I never lend
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there
That's terrible to have your tools stolen. The very year we moved in here, a neighbours shed was raided and they lost thousands of dollars of gear. Since then, I have my full name and V for vic and / or partial licence number etched or engraved into all my tools. Also, after seeing how many spanners etc for sale at a second hand tool store with three dots or some other symbol on them, I've made sure mine are easily ID'ed. The tool boxes also have ALL TOOLS MARKED written on them. Have been lucky so far (touch wood).
My advice is: not to follow my advice.
