    Welsh Trol Project

I've been rooting around this wonderful site for a few years now, picking up words of wisdom as I go
Thought it time to do a little Ride thread of my own.
I have a 1996 SWB Y60 4.2 n/a oil burner well at least it was when I first had it .
    As I bought it :

First job on my list was to get those ticky wee tyres off . I had some 33s on my old Terrano so put them on straight away. Better but not enough diff clearance yet , so I got some Simex 35 x 10.5 x 16s sorted. They're fitted on Toyota rally spec alloys

At this stage I'd just done 2" body lift and that really wasn't man enough for offroad clearance for the 35s

So I got a set of Pedders +2" springs and shocks . Pretty much anything else was over my budget as over here in Wales Aus stuff is bonkers money :/

That gave me a bit more flex and plenty of room for the 35s now

    And immediately put into action

Once I had that lot sorted I was amazed at how good this beast is offroad . A rare beast over here and so great to wind up the landies with it
Next things on my list are the things that seem to perplex you southerners somewhat
Namely, manual brake bias control and internal snorkel

I've removed the old brake bias adjuster off the back axle as it was goosed . Replacement cost over here was over 400 UK imperial Pounds I fitted a simple manual brake bias adjuster lever and replumbed the back end accordingly. This truck has no seats in the back and spends most of it's driving offroad. I find it works a treat and passed our UK road worthiness test with no problems.

Next on my list was to make up a front "Bar" of my own design (mainly) again out of necessity as pre made ones here are flippin' expensive
So I sketched out what I wanted and set about making a mock up.

Used some old ply and rain water pipe to get templates from.

It's basically a winch tray and then some bar bolted on. It will eventually be added to as I'm making an exo cage for it soon.

And with the winch in place

Finally with some hammerite on it

Currently working on the wiring options for me to switch it internally and externally from both wander lead and remote
Coming up next :- internal snorkel, you have been warned lol

    Warning Pics may offend ;)

When I started looking for a Trol snorkel nothing really did it for me and the price tags were again the deciding factor in the following "design".
I decided to run the air intake internally to a scoop on the roof. so I got a fibreglass bonnet scoop and modified it to suit and bonded it on the roof over a brake air intake scoop. That then connects to 3" flexi duct down the A pillar through the A/C holes in the bulkhead and onto the airbox I modified to suit .
    Roof scoop

    Flexi down the A post

Through the bulkhead to the airbox

It all works a treat and is not noisy either
Mind you that may change soon as I'm also fitting a super charger
A little flexing now and then

As I use the old Trol in anger offroad I soon chopped the rear quarters as seen on this site. Ta for that. Helped a lot but not quite enough
Back end with some extra clearance

In primer after it was all welded up

Trouble is after being down this rut

    I did this

Plans are now to bob tail the back end to reduce it's lardy arse

Another day out , another injury

These lights are hard to get hold of over here (and expensive) , so when I biffed the other side too, it was time for a rethink.
After a quick spy on fleabay I got some LED combi day lights and indicator jobbies
Then fibre glassed in the old holes and cut a new hole for the LEDs

A bit of filler and my favourite black paint and de-badged I got this

My daughter's boyfriend's car is trying to get slammed closer to the ground while mine is on the up. Compare and contrast

Undergoing a special charity day wash ? Also worked as a good water test , all good

    Same time next year guys

I have an extreme budget though lol, that's the fly in the works :/ It did take a while you're right. I thought I'd do one ages ago but realised I've got 75% of my projects unfinished ! So I'm working hard to finish some of them and stick 'em on here.
    loving the Trol long time
