worried you, worried the life out of me, never heard of it.
Now you'll have to do some fuel runs to test your range.
Do you have bigger tanks at all or just OE ATM
Plus your a bit lighter again

170 litres I think. With the weight & wind resistance this has given me around 950 to 1000kms range with the old tyres.

I'm all ears provided it's affordable, reliable & doesn't mean that I have to drive with my eyes on gauges all the time.

It's possible. 3" exhaust and wind the boost up. Would need a temporary gauge to set it but no gauges would be necessary.

You don't generally watch them all the time. I tend to watch mine more so when towing up hill most other times its a quick glance every now and then. You generally learn how to drive to suit the gauges once you have watched them for a little.

Whats a 4.2TD get normally , thinking 15/100k does that sound right hwy driving or am I way off?
1000 k range will cover any road in aust
And as Matt suggests a few more ponies too, anything to help these motors breathe has to be good,
, no harm can come of it just makes the motor more efficient

3" exhaust is a possibility when the current one needs replacing but increasing the boost concerns me a bit in terms of reliability & longevity. This may well be a result of my ignorance about such things, but it is reassuring that in stock form I can take the car to any Nissan workshop & be reasonably confident that they know what they are doing. Start changing the basic parameters & this may no longer be the case. Not saying you're wrong, rather I'm inviting you to convince me as better fuel consumption/greater range is attractive.

Would think any mechanic worth his salt would be able to service your Patrol with these minimum mods.
Thinking EGR block as well. but later for that.
Straight from Mr Nissan most engines are asmatic giving the ability to breathe can only help.
with no fear on any long or short term harm,
Unleash the beast within I say, listen to others who have same set up or similar motor.
Cause I know you'll want the best reliability you can get, goes without saying

I can get 17/100 towing 2.5t +. Normal driving will see me doing high 12's or low 13's. This is running 285's as well. Also wound the fuel pump up pushing 25psi and bigger turbo.

Cuppa you only need to up the boost a small amount and its not going to effect reliability or longevity. The service you get from a Nissan dealer (or lack there of) will never notice a small tweak.

Hey cuppa I would think even with the mildest of tunes you will drive onto a Dyno and run at about 65rwkws and be able to get a comfortable 80rwkws with a conservative setting below 12psi. That is nearly a 25% increase drive in drive out without doing much else and Never giving it another thought ever.

Push it and you'd get 90rwkw but I know your not really interested in pushing it that hard. But as 3d says they are as asmatic straight out of the dealership and crying to be tuned
    Its a Nissan! =====> Its a Keeper!! ....... Got a TD42 in it BONUS!! ....... I'm a lucky bugger! I've got 2 of em!

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.
