I already have a toy TD and the power figures i posted are more to do with power to weight ratio more then anything. I cant see how a big 6cyl motor can produce that much power and still be economical but saying that the 4.8 has a different and more efficient ignition system so its got more options to play with...
Have a search of what a few guys are using in things like the outback challenge etc. Theres some pretty ballsy 4.5s. Definitely not the best engine to mod but Just thought it might be easier to tickle what ya got instead of an engine swap

Clearly not a Nissan motor cos the figures would be better especially with a 4.8 not to mention the mind boggling torque these things can achieve. Superior use to run a turbo 4.2 in one of there cars it had 350hp atw plus a 100hp hit of nos built into the throttle stop.
As Ben-e has asked your better off chasing torque out of a motor in a patrol sure you might have a high power donk but unless she got plenty of torque you are gonna hate it in something like a gu wagon

Actually i have spoken bout the motor before just not accessories, LS1, FAST LSXR manifold, 102mm FAST Bigmouth throttle body, Compcams XR259HR cam power curve 800rpm to 5800rpm its more of a towing cam than performance, hows that Matt?? I just haven't worked out if i'm going to make a tuned length try Y extractors with match ported pipes and what size exhaust will have the right air speed to enhance the cams low to mid range torque output...
Those comp cars are just for power not for cruising and arn't very economical.
