what about winch care, hoe do u guys care for your winch?
I have an X9 superwinch on the GUiV. I bought it second hand and it looked unused. It had been on the front of a 200 series and when I got it home I bench tested it. It was fully seized and rooted.

I stripped it down and rebuilt the gearbox and then the motor as both had been full of water and were solid.

Don't take it for granted that the winch on the front of your car for 5 years and never used will still be ok to use. Test it, service it at least once a year. It's not hard to do and take a couple of hours and then will not let you down when you really need it.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

Yes I have that setup on mine but have not really used it to be honest so it acts like a vent when not pressurized. Pressurizing is actually quite difficult to achieve but I do at least get positive airflow (pressure) but it is also well sealed.

If I go the air free spool then will use that airline and solenoid to operate the free spool and do away with the pressurize option.

    Daz,
What did you do to bench test it? Eg; how did you set the test up?
Was going to start pulling mine apart tonight to have a look.
Where did you get your Superwinch parts from (if you needed them that is)?
    Cheers,
    Drew

    Hi drew,

I used a jump pack to power the winch without the solenoid.

You will find the power sequence via google and power up the winch and test the directions are working well.

I did into need any parts as it all just needed a good clean out. Most parts though should be readily available Drew.

Give me a yell any time
