ROH 16 x 8 n13, 1200kg $85.
I'm keen to get some wheels this week or next week. So what do you rekon ???
Mullins neg 28 only comes in white aswell
Sorry ian I have not had a chance yet as I have been flat out, I will send my guy a text when I get home with what you asked me and see what price he can do the wheels and tyres for
I am looking at getting some wheels, still deciding on which way to go though. Would be looking at 6 all up (2 spares) but I am worried about weight being a factor with 1 spare sitting on the roof rack and one on the bar door. Not intersted at this stage in getting a rear bar with a wheel carrier.
So what do you guys reckon? My heart was set on a pair of King Steelies but now I am thinking alloys. I see some people even just hang on to the stock alloys, can you get a 33"s on the stock alloys??
2008 GU ST Bog stock and no smoking barrels!
George & others,
Another potential option.
I just got off the phone to All Wheels (Sydney) where I was talking to a chap named 'AJ'. He may join the forum & post some info here later as I gave him this thread address. Seemed like a helpful chap.
My enquiry there was regarding the 2100kg load rated Mine spec wheels, which are only available in white, & in 16" x 7" (I had hoped they were available in 16 x 8 - something he says he gets asked for on a regular basis).
http://www.allwheels.com.au/product....cat=559&page=1
These normally retail for $190, but he said he would let us have them for around $150 each delivered to Dandenong if we bought the numbers we are talking about. He seemed quite understanding of the beneficial nature of 'looking after' folks on enthusiast forums.
I know 265/75's will fit onto a 7" rim, andother than not being able to go to a wider tyre later if wanted, I am uncertain what the implications of using the narrower rim with the 265/75's might be? (Would love advice on this - AJ said there are plenty of Prados around running 245's & 265's on 7 " rims).
He also talked about better deals still if we bought a tyre/rim package.
Not sure what it would cost to get the rims powder coated black? TD may advise.

Nobody rang eastern wheel works they are made with 10mm hubs instead of 4-6 like most sunnies
any offset you want. plus you wont look like everyone else. If i wanted load carrying I ring them at the
drop of a hat
@ Cuppa should have read whole thread lol, looking around $15 a rim To powder coat.
If a heap from Melb get them done together I could see that coming down
FYI Prados are IFS rims ,as in widen inwards
@ George you going to run 2 sets like me????

Hi Beni,
I've seen reference to past 'debates' on Alloy vs Steel, I suspect it's probably a ford/holden type thing with some folk arguing to justify their own purchases & it's probably not worth regurgitating them. At the end of the day it's your decision. From my perspective I'm only considering steel on the basis of cost & ability to repair out in the bush. Both types can get damaged, but I'm guessing that in the event of a 'get you back to civilisation' scenario following damage to a rim that I'd prefer a steel one which I could belt back into shape or get welded at a station. Whether this might ever be needed is a 64 thousand dollar question given the carrying of two spares.
What is the cost of alloys? I haven't even looked, but I'm guessing it would be at least 2 or 3 times the cost of steels. Adds up quickly when 6 are required.
No doubt that alloys are lighter which has several advantages, (especially for anyone with a dodgy back!).
I guess which you choose will probably be dictated by the depth of your wallet & where you intend to go. The rims I am wanting to replace are steel, chosen & used by Telstra almost exclusively on outback roads & tracks. I am guided by their choice in the belief that generally their choices were based upon a great deal of experience as to what worked/was cost effective, & what wasn't. I am confident that if they had thought alloys to be better , especially given the greater load carrying capacity of alloys, that they would have used them. I am changing because I want to run tubeless instead of the tubed I have on the split rims.
