Has anyone seen any information on servicing the viscous hub on the direct injection ZD30 - I'm told the viscous fan is attached to the water pump shaft? Does that mean you lose coolant pulling it off?
cheers
Mike

Yes to replace the clutch fan, water pump comes off, it come as a assembly, I'v just recently done mine,
What state are you from? I should be able to beat any prices youve been given.

On the TB42 you can pull the fan off without disturbing the water pump... my fan seized up a few weeks ago so I just swapped it out from one off a donor car I have sitting here..
Will service my other one as a back up.

Hi again, well it sounded easy in theory, but the cowling is off now and well .... not sure what to remove next. Have already removed a few things surplus to requirements, so don't want to make it too hard when putting it all back together. Any tips on what to remove next?
Thanks
Mike
Hi Mike,
When I did mine, I took out the alternater (To get the the thermostate) which loosed the belt, then took the whole waterpump out.
Of course at this time I have no coolant/water in the system.
As far as im aware they are not serviceable, brand new water pump including clutch fan should be no more then $250 pending brand..

reasonable price, I know you can buy the fluid from Toyota but being a TLCCV member never heard of
patrol fans being serviceable. I'll do some checking
EDIT,,,,,,,,,,,,My manual says fan coupling cannot be taken apart is described as non serviceable and should
be replaced with the "F" mark facing the front
