Which lightforce spotties to get

All just my opinion.

I had a set of XGT's on my last patrol with the light blue lens covers, with spot and spread. Absolutely loved them. (Cost about $550 for a pair.)

Bought a BT50 with a set of IPF 900 extreme's, 1 spot, 1 spread, with light blue covers. (about $450 the pair, I think, only because the XGT's didn't fit.)

I think the XGT's smash the IPF's. left them for dead in real world light output. I don't know the figures, but they definitely appear a lot better.

I have also used a handheld lightforce 180 (i think), and found the 240 XGT's also left it for dead, there was 2 of them but.

I am wanting to upgrade my XGT's to HID for my new patrol in a couple of weeks, we'll see what SWMBO says, I guess.

I guess it all comes down to what you need versus how much you want to spend.

Over the last few days I have looked on evilbay at all sorts of lights from the cheaper chinese ones right up to hella (and their exorbinant prices!!) and eveything in between. I still keep coming back to the lightforce for some reason. But last night I looked at some (I dare say they are chinese!) from a couple of companies in melbourne and for the same price as a set of xgt's I can get 1 set of 220mm light in 35w hid (6000K) and another set of 100mm 35w hid (6000K). Unfortunately I am not sure of the quality of these lights, but as I am not doing any outback trips for the next couple of years I have to work out whether it is worth taking the risk on these or sticking with the more expensive but tried and tested.

I'm gonna get a set of Roo Lite 220's and put 100W HIDs in them, then get a small set of Roo Lites and put yellow covers on them because I do a lot of driving in the fog.

Thanks for the advice guys.......I know I would really love to support aussie made but sometimes the budget doesn't allow for it. I suppose I have some soul searching to do with regards to this.

There is a cheaper option, called the RooLite which is basically a light force copy at lesser price. I had the 200's from memory on my old hilux and they were great. I changed the globes over to a Narva or possibly Philips globe, and never had any dramas. A lot of Lightforce is paying for the name, they're pretty basic, only plastic and aside from being adjustable, nothing special. Don't be tempted to go for the cheap HID lights, I used some on my truck and they were rubbish. Maybe 1km of beam but no spread at all. They were a dead set pencil beam and because of their mounting system they were either too high and shooting at UFO's or too low, just firing straight into the ground.

Bringing up an old thread but saves me from starting a new one, im also looking at buying some roo lite's but unsure on what way to go 180's or 220's. can I ask why you changed over the globes? are roolite globes no good or is it better to just change them over?

I have XGTs and they are great. I got them for a good price and am happy with them.

If I was paying retail I'd have to consider buying the lightforce Blitz 240s and fitting a 55w HID kit into them!!! Hell Yeah! Now we are talking! The XGTS are more difficult to convert to HID so I would go with the Blitz.

Or you could grab a set of ours!!! $850 - 2 year warranty (local, and no, they are not Chinese lights). Have to put up the video we did for comparison against an XGT (which is a 9" vs our 7") - lets just say, the GSC's were the "small dog" but packed the bigger bite!! lol
