Hi Steve I'm very happy for you having got your car to this point, and oh so close to being ready to get back out where it belongs. As many have stated I cannot fathom the work that you have put into this - Ive done a few ground-up restorations on old Fords and Holdens, but the Patrol is at another level altogether given the complexity of modern cars. I've been able to learn heaps about my own car and modern cars in general just by reading your topic!

    See you soon! regards Murray

PS - here's a few of my favourite pics of your truck.

    Double Island Point

Rainbow Beach (aka "Where's A4B", had to switch to the long lens for this one

Good to hear and see Steve.

Just seen your air compressor set up looks good, are you able to fill the tank from an external air supply as well like a garage air compressor???

Well I can Todd, and when i designed the set up, i had this ability down as very important (pre filling the tank at a servo) but now rather than a fixed valve inlet (as i was going to have), i just need to use a tyre adaptor on the compressor outlet port to back feed the tank.

Now why didn't i bother with a extra port ?, well in my testing of the system, i found that the pumps could fill the 9L tank from dead empty to 120psi (auto cut off pressure) in 1min 30 seconds, plus i have a switch on the centre console so i can prefill the tank while driving and long before stopping the car to air up anyway.

Now ,servo "prefilling" would save pre-HEATing the compressors before i need to pump my tyres, but id have to drive around "all day" with the tank pressurised , while im very confident its all 100% safe, i just dont want a "bomb" in the car all day (incase the car got rolled or it was in a crash, not that that ever happens, lol)

You can see the outlet top left below the seat belt, down below are the fuses so they can be reached through the factory trim door/panel, also you can see i have a pressure gauge that will be visible through a hole that the previous owner cut for a fridge plug.

Also have a adjustable reg near the gauge, can just turn it through the little door, but figured i most likley never use it anyway, didnt put a water trap on it , i chose to put the outlet at the botton of the tank, so i can then open the valve to atmosphere, and blow the water out when i need to.

The other benefit i can think of from prefilling at the servo, is to be able to still use the "tank" should the on-board compressor pump die, i have 2 pumps, both are wired independantly of each other, and are connected to the tank with heavy duty one way valves, so one pump can die, and the other will still fill the tank.

So yeh, after all this, i thought, why drill another hole in my side trim for something i wont really ever use, its messy enough now.....

I wanted the outlet inside the car so it wont get sandy or muddy, but also so i can just plug on without moving all the stuff in the cargo area, i think it should work well.....

I forgot to mention, the car passed Roadworthy today , nothing to do except adjust front wheel bearings, they said it was very minor play.

The bearings never got re-checked after the Lokka was installed, so this may have something to do with it, at least i can book my WOVI now

Cool, yeh it sounds like a important feature, until you think about when you may actually use it in the real world, i could't think of any decent reson to have one, and anyway, its pretty easy to make/keep a adapter to just back feed through the outlet port if you find the need to.

Nice one Steve, so would you care to enlighten me on how you managed to get your hands on a trade plate anyway?
