Any L series L24,L26,L28 should be fine in an MQ /MK .....

The tuffest part is ,to do a proper rebuild can cost plenty,but the L28s are a tuff motor and although can be thirsty can stick it right up the diesel boys when you go turbo
The major problem is the cost to rebuild and a decent rebuild ,there are better later model, more efficient and powerfull motors out there that can be bought,fitted,converted for the price to rebuild the L28
If my L28 blows,ill probably go to a 90s ford 4 L inline 6
