I am looking at buying a used (280k) GQ patrol wagon with dedicated gas. Can anyone give me some advice? Should I steer clear of dedicated gas?

Good until you run out of gas. Then call the tow truck.
Depends on what sort of driving your doing, if your just using it as a daily driver around town then it will be ok, but if your planning on doing weekend trips out bush then you have the issues of been limited to what ever k's you get from the tank, You can't take spare gas with you.
Time is never wasted when your wasted all the time
WARNING: Towballs used for recoveries can, and do kill people and damage property.
Yeah, this thing has dual 90L tanks so I guess that overcomes a bit of that. I guess I was meaning mechanically, is there any common pitfalls with the air intakes or valves etc?
Hotter combustion temps, more likely to crack heads. Can be hard on valves. But not really of massive concern.
You should head over and introduce yourself mate... just polite and all!!!

Quality hardened valves pretty much solve it aswell.

Expect to do the head sooner or latter - then spend the $$$ on vlaves etc.
I get around 340 k out from 90l on my GQ tank - less off road. You are limited on long trips where there are no gas suppliers.
You can aslo consider going turbo later on.
Where is the second tank mounted?
1991 GQ LWB 4.2 Carby dual fuel, 32 mud claws, 2 inch lift, LSD's front and back
And its Toooooooo High for the Ball & chain
