Dont forget about the spigot bush too in the flywheel.

Hey mate - are you doing the clutch yourself? I bought the Safari Clutch for my GU TD42 and had a go in the garage. I found after unbolting drive shafts, bell housings etc and getting the box back enough to drop it down onto the floor, I couldn't lift the car high enough without it hitting the roof of the garage to slide the box out so I had to put it all back together and start over outside - the bell housing is pretty big.

The gearbox/transfer assembly is amazingly heavy as well - I'd done gearboxes in Landcruisers and Pajeros beforehand but wasn't quite prepared for the weight of this thing when it came loose. You certainly don't want to be balancing it one handed on top of a trolley jack while you wedge it free with a chisel...

Hey guys regarding the removal and intstallation i will be building a frame and removing the centre console and lowing to the ground with a chain block

Regarding the cost for the 4terrain clutch kit it was retailing for $950 and my mate got a staff discount for the price of $622 at his workplace

Also i went to my local nissan dealer and got quoted for a rea main seal $159.28 and a retainer gasket for the seal also for $33.05 - I went to nizbits and got it for $58 and 26 + $12 delivery so i saved a total of $108.33 then my delivery of $12 on top so i still got it for half of nissans price and it was all genuine

I would highly recommend nizzbits his delivery was really quick and his pricing is next to none

Hi mate,

I'm assuming you'll be support the box with a trolley jack while you unbolt and then slide it backwards to release the input shaft and get the housing out from around the clutch. Then support with the chain through the shift hole? Would love to know if this works as I'm likely going to have to get the box out of my current patrol for a rebuild.

I recall having to roll the box on its way back to get the part of the housing where the starter goes to clear the firewall. This presented some problems sitting on top of a trolley jack but maybe if it was hanging in a chain sling, this'd be easy. Maybe a plank of wood under the box with the chain around it would allow you to slide and rotate?

I used an engine crane and slings in the metho hutchy has described. Soft slings make it easier to manouver the box and when re installing just used a trolley jack to help get the right angle
