3" Redback exhaust, Performance Ok but go some questions.

Ok So now a few days of having the exhaust on over all still nice, BUT, the power is ok, improved but not as much as i would have though. Boost appears ok, i backed of the VNT half a turn as it was a bit high.

Torque seems to have dropped of a little at the bottom end but is much more linear and pulls quite nice.

So for all those who have a 3", how did you find it?

Any issues to date, ie engine or anything ?

How is your boost ? On a CRD, what does it hold and so forth?

If you had your chance, would you do it again?

My boost never gets over 15 psi and have only seen it get to 15 twice normally 14psi max regularly.
I got my 3" exhaust with a chip at the same time , so performance was greatly improved.

Under power it seams to be steady at 14.5psi, as normal, but it does spike on the way up, say 17psi for a split second and then steady. I think at higher RPM though it has more like 15-16 psi, will see tomorrow on a decent high way run

It is strange your torque has dropped with the 3" as most find it should increase down in the rev range. When I tow my van (close to 3T) I can get occasional spikes up to 17 but ECU seems to fix that pretty quickly.

The main reason I installed the beaudesert 2.75 was to overcome stretching gears while towing. ex I would have to rev each gear to around 3500-4000RPM just so when I changed gear I would fall into the torque range so I could pull the van. Anything under 2100RPM was useless. Now I just drive it normally change gears at around 3000RPM and get torque from 1500-1600RPM. GOT TO BE HAPPY WITH THAT!

It should have been the first mod I made not an after thought. I wasn't after neck breaking power but better towing ability and that is what I achieved.

Yeah i guess the dyno will show any differences, perhaps its not that the tourque is higher up, but there is no more huge torque lump that i use to get from 1500 to 2000 rpm, now its just constant i guess.

Yeah, great idea. whack it on the dyno to have a look. Might just be a lot smoother curve now to what it was before. It's funny how you got a huge lump from 1500 and mine was dead in that range. hahaha Oh well thats Nissan for ya.
    Good luck with it

Guys, this is the exact same problem mine has. I think 3" is to big for 3l motor. I can literaltly feel the turbo / torque range at 2300rpm. Under that it wouldn`t pull the skin off a custard. I am going to change mine back to the 2.75"

Which 2.75" have you got as standard is 2.5" and I think only beaudesert makes 2.75..... Anyway the guys that put the 2.75 have been very happy with results so the above comment is probably very valid.

Well after a decent stint on the road I must say the improvement is noticible. I think I was spot on, tourqe range is much smoother no big lump just constant pull. My brother drove it and imediatly noticed the differance. Will be interesting to see what the dyno shows. Boost controll is spot on too no over post no limp mode.
