Yeah that's definitely way too high. Auto choke shouldnt make it rev that high anyway. Has it done it since you bought it? Is it dual fuel? Maybe try spraying some crc or similar all around the outside of the carby paying attention to the rubber boots. Check all the vacuum lines.

6000rpm is not considered idling, more like revving its guts out. Something must be sticking.

auto choke std setting is 1900 rpm, and that's high in my books.
you defiantly have a serious problem.
something is sticking on so to speak.

carby clean time by the sounds of it.

A formula one race car idles at 6000, you haven't leaned it out on gas and melted the internals of carbie, allowing some molten metal to get stuck under butterfly.
Other than that I'd be looking down the throat of carbie and just see whats happening, manually, goodluck

Hi mate - do you mean it idles on choke at 3500-3600RPM? If it's 6000RPM then that's seriously an issue. Even 3500 is too high. Just a quick question - when you place it in gear do the revs drop (clutch in, not moving)?

Well here we go automatic choke been sticking on nd off only bout 3 times since i bought it back in august this yr was running fine until Sunday arvo when i started her she just had iratic idle reving between 3500 nd 6000 have sprayed crc round out side of carby nd manualy move thortle lever nd it looks 2me it seems to be fine.the automatic choke relay is workin nd it's getting power to the solinoid.the butterfly seems to be operating nd closes wiv a slight little gap not to sure if this is normal thou was wondering is it worth getting a carby kit nd get a mechanic 2 put it in as I've really never done one before.Im pretty mechanical minded but heard there a fildly thing to do thanks again Simon
