Thanks Winnie - exactly the kind of info I am looking for. To be fair people could find all this info already on the forum but looking to consolidate it into a single source.

Heres some options for rear recovery for both the GQ and GU. IMO very affordable
I also have options for the front for safe recoveries.

Thanks threedogs. Are you happy for me to include your pics in my write-up when I post it? I assume so since you have posted them on the forum anyway - but best to ask first!

Hand held epirb for those lost away from the vehicle ,rolled on a bush road ,heart attack moments and would fit in all category,s I reckon as would a good first aid kit for burns snake bite dirt in eye moments. water not in 1 large container in case it gets holed and a sense of humour for those pear shaped times .

Lorrieandjas funny you say that I always carried a cricket bat tennis ball a 2 decks of cards when traveling up and down between Alice and the top end as you could be caught at a creek at the drop of a hat. Had a mob of truckies and kids playing cricket on the banks of the Attack Ck and a big game of 21 was happening in the back of a furniture pan we were stuck there for 36 hrs.
