Quitting smoking

OK to start
Ya gotta actually want to give up, i loved smoking really did and was a fairly hard core smoker, if ya could smoke it i did (no, not the crack hore stuff either) cigs cigars (mmm captain black sweet filtered cigars like smoking chocolate hahahaha) pipe baccy you name it. BUT i wanted to give up, be a non smoker. Didnt read much about it (hypno) but was over wearing 2x 24 hr patches nd still chaffing 50+ a day let alone a session at the pub!! Nicco chewys smokeless cigs was costing me a mootsa. So heard about a 50yr hard core smoker (mates uncle) who went to a bloke here in Adelaide and BAM never touched em again no withdrawals, nothin. So i think WTF not give it a crack $200 wasnt gunna bust the bank.

So anyway typical how youd imagine a physcologists practice to be, nice big leather recliner, bit of incence ya get it. Anyway it started with watching the watch concentrating only on the watch.......................closing your eyes.....................................
At all times you are totally aware of whats going on around you, if someone was to walk into the room youd open your eyes straight away so its not some full on deep hypnosis, just a state of pure relaxation. He makes suggestions, like you will not like the smell of cigs the smell may even make you feel crook. When you see someone smoking you will think how stupid they look and why would you do that to yourself etc etc. Then He turns off a light switch which is "symbolic" of the addiction. Warns you if you even take one drag on a smoke after that you will be turning the addiction back on. Takes about half hr 45 mins, and BAM for me no more smoking
He encourages you to have a smoke on you way to see him but know thats gunna be ya last. Dont have ashtrays at home or other smoke paraphenalia (sorry no spell check). My missus did it also but only lasted 6 months no cravings at all but went overseas backpacking through china and started up before i caught up with her, went back 1 year later and hasnt hed one for 5+ yeasrs now.
So when we got home we knew we werent smokers but didnt know (sounds weird i know) just felt like we were missing out on something but couldnt pin point what. That feeling lasted the night and by the morning i new id never smoke again. Went to site the next day and the smell was frokn shocking hated the smell of cigs. First couple of yeasrs had like bad dreams (not nightmares) that id started smoking again and was bulk pissed off with myself, but happy as when i woke up in the morning and realised it was a dream
Ive reccomended 3 mates to this bloke and theyve all been successful.
I was telling myself for the week leading up that on such n such a date id be a non smoker and smoked flat out until i walked through his door. Good luck with it man its the best thing to get rid of guaranteed
Oh gotta say his voice was weired as when hes talking to you while yer "under" very syllabolistic still makes me chuckle when i think about it. heres a link to the bloke i saw and the method he uses, go for it!!

Gave up for a while and stopped cold turkey but foolishly started up again, due to work stress n stuff, feeble excuse I know but...... somehow manage to only smoke at work so 6 - 7 a day. Don't smoke at home, nights or weekends (unless I'm at a club meet or out wheeling). And never ever smoke in front of the kids. Just need to get that feeling and notion in me head again and go cold turkey.

Don't stroke it, TAP it!!!!.....

I have already posted in here but you have to really want to and be a non smoker not a "I am trying to quit" person.

Do not be fixed on when you quit, pay little mind to it and only look forward.

It is the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with but after 23 years of smoking I could have bought 2 houses and lived a much healthier life.

You have to take responsibility for your self and not blame the stresses and the world around you.

They reckon there is nothing worse than a reformed smoker,bleating bleating, bleating well i'm a reformed smoker and I reckon there is nothing worse than smoking and I reckon if I bleated enough and only one person gave up I'm on a win. I gave up when i was 20 just stopped...all good for 25 yrs till i hooked up with a women who smoked like a train i started again, smoked for 2yrs then I just flagged it stopped in a heart beat,best thing I ever did 2yrs later had a blockage just bout killed me...if I had continued smoking I'd be smelling the daisies.While I was recovering a good mate had a heart attack BANG dead on the spot he was a small light weight fella (50yr), but smoked cigars like there was no tomorrow. Since then I have had 5 mates die from heart attacks all blocked arteries from smoking and all in there very early to mid fifties. Don't just think of yourselves you fellas when you enjoying that fag thinking how good it makes you feel....think of your missus, think of your kids, think of your mates,think of every one that means something to you and tell yourself you rather be around for a few more years and enjoy them all, than enjoy that killer that you sucking into your lungs for that brief two minutes....I know what I'd rather do, who knows ya missus might want to give you a big smoocher cause ya smell good.....this is bleating I know, but I reckon if one person stopped smoking after reading this I'd be the happiest camper around.... anyway how the hell are you going to enjoy driving ya big Nissan around if you lying on ya back.

Nah Never harped on about being a NON SMOKER. Mates ask if I'm still off and I say yes and thats that. It was my decision to stop, they will know when its their turn to stop. But how long till you stop coughing up that crap been months now, doc has no idea, but best thing I have done like Aussie could have been driving Dodge Vipers now. too scared to add it up, but its gunna be heaps. still got heart beat of 46bpm if it dont stop
