    Manual Hubs issue

    Hi fellow patrol owners.
I recently brought a 2008 GU patrol ute.
After four wheel driving for a week I ventured home with the front hubs in the lock position. Then the worst occured at 110 kph a large bang, and I realised the front hubs were still locked!!
I dont know the extent of damage or if there is damage, but I'd like to have a good/honest 4x4 repairer look over the front end and see what damage has been done.
So firstly what do you guys think I'm up for??
Secondly please suggest a good repair shop near central Brisbane??
Appreciate any suggestions, besides not doing it again.

You can leave them locked with the gear selector in 2wd forever with no problem but if you were on black top still in 4wd could have bound axles or broken CV . I see this is your first post welcome

Whoever cannot take care of themselves without that law is both.
For a wounded man shall say to his assailant,
'If I live, I will kill you. If I die, You are forgiven.'

Gday Mate, welcome aboard. Hopefully you'll find the info you need. Was your patrol in 4wd when you were doing 100km/h? Or was it in 2wd?

    G'day buddy, Welcome aboard.
Great bunch here with tons of advice, info, adventures and plenty of laughs to absorb.
Join in ask away and soak it all up. You will meet some top people.

Sounds like a bugga but if it broke it can be fixed, There's quite a few active QLDers on, so hopefully one of them will see your post and point you in the right direction.
Also if you haven't already, drop by the mechanical discussion section and post you troubles there. Might get a few mech gurus that don't read the intros.Good luck

    Enjoy, cheers Pete

    Welcome to the forum

What he said, Not all Patrols even have hubs - mine doesn't, nor does any other Gulf spec car.
The wheels in mine are connected permanently to the Axle. As long as your not in 4WD on road then the front drive shaft just freewheels/windmills but is disconnected at the transfer case.
So you don't need to be paranoid about not doing it again, cos some of us do it all the time
