    Fuel gauge

I had to use a RB30 intank fuel pump and sender unit.

I still have the fuel gauge for the TB42 in the dash.

My Question is, Are the RB30 sender units the same as the TB42,now im getting strange readings like it drops really fast can almost watch it drop.
It read empty then took only 25 litres of fuel and read 3/4 full.

    cheers

As far as I am aware they both have the same resistance readings.

These are the values you should see when moving the float up and down.

There is a small circuit board on sender unit which has a number of electrical contact bars on it. (looks like a pedestrian crossing).
The arm which floats up and down with fuel level has a fixed elec contact on it to.
As arm moves so does the signal sent.
The bars can wear out and signal becomes faulty, all over the place.
Gauge is receiving very mixed/missing bits of signal.
Gauge is designed slow to react so you dont see rapid movement of gauge, no body could put up with that happening.
But bits of signal missing is confusing it, gauge some-what.

If gauge is identical to TB42, on ebay about $140 I think.
    Tip----get a new gasket/o-ring to.
hope that helps explain what you may be seeing.
    Cheers.
