Rear barn door hinge broken
Hi guys,
Im trying to work out a way to repair my rear barn door. (large one that holds spare tyre)
What has happened is that the part of the hindge that mounts to the body of the car has come loose/broke off and every time I open the door the mounting point slides around inside the panel.
Has any one worked out a way to repair this issue?
Thanks guys

Just weld it up mate or buy a new one lol
If the hinge isn't broken you would need to drill and tap a plate to go inside the panel.

I think you can get new hinges that let the doors open a bit wider . I don,t know much about them myself but might be a useful mod . worth looking into . If you decide to go this way post it up . I,m sure others would be interested .

Nipagu7 thats just a small bracket not hinge that allows the door to open up to about 90 Degree, around the $30 mark, useful for the little door

Thanks guys, I will try welding it back on. Should I be taking any precautions before attaching earth and welding to the chasis e.g. damaging computer/ electronics / battery?
Thanks

Expert
remove the positive battery lead for sure.
my hinge failed on the pin,its a bit of strong steel to drill out so mite have to get another hinge, most likely less than a tungsten drill bit.
