Can I add a thought as a bloke who stupidly still smokes,

Hypno, Patches or cold turkey the underlying thing is, consciously or subconsciously, for it to work, you must really want to give up the dreaded drug.

And this comes from a bloke who has smoked for 35 years(started at 11, and a packet a day of 25's at 15) and have given up heaps of times, but have always gone back.

Call me weak willed, but the underlying thing is, stupidly I still enjoy my smokes. 46 now and smoke about 15 a day.

But I don't smoke in the house, car or any where near my kids.

100% agree with you! Ya have to wanna give em away. I was still enjoying/loving my smokes when I gave up (with the hypno help) I chaffed 50 cigs+20 captain black sweet filtered cigars on Anzac day (had the hypno booked the next day) and enjoyed every last drag. But I wanted to give up. As it turned out I wasn't enjoying them that's just the bloody voice of addiction telling me I was! Hahahahhaha the bugger. Shut him up for good with the brain doc tho;-)

Ok it's been 19 days since ive had a smoke,i got sick with a bad flu and did'nt feel like having one,so i just kept going from there, the cravings are getting less but once i have a beer i feel like one but instead of a smoke i just have another beer, works at the moment.
I never meant to give up so if i go back i won't be pissed at myself, but so far i can't see that happening.

    Good on ya mate,

I was smoking 40 to 60 a day for years and went on the patches nearlly 10 years ago now. Worked well but was not a Joy Ride by any means. very very occasionally i get a wiff that i enjoy but 99 times out of 100 it smells like Sh1t.

I made a deal with myself when i gave them away. I'd never buy White Jim Beams again! Never have. Jimmy Blacks is the only thing i buy now or higher up the shelf. I earned it! I can afford it because i dont spend it on smokes any more. Spoil yourself mate.

    Good luck.
    Its a Nissan! =====> Its a Keeper!! ....... Got a TD42 in it BONUS!! ....... I'm a lucky bugger! I've got 2 of em!

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

So you still wake up with a sore bum? If so get it checked out mate or tell the bloke behind you to take it a bit easier. Geez!

    And Chester, well done mate!

I too have just given up, smoked like a chimney most of my life, used to be fit as a fiddle, told my doctor I'll try the tablets again.
Haven't had a fag for about 5 weeks now and thats a big thing for me. I too would shake if low on smokes and no shop nearby.
NOW I've got it in my head that I don't need or want them. feel a hell of a lot better. I dont preach to my mates who smoke.
They'll know when its time for them

I smoked for 23years and it has been more than 3 years since stopping ,I have no exact date and think this is the right attitude to have.

I also think saying you are not a smoker is good for the mind rather than saying I am quiting or I am trying to quit .

Of all the things I have done in my life the best decisions besides my kids and sticking it out with my wife was to stop smoking, I could never go back.

OK Chester and Threedogs are you two still off the Cigs.??

It has been three years for me now and I still would like a Smoke every now and then (Not often), No Cravings but if I had one I would say that I would be back on them full time.
I smoked from the age of 15 until three years ago and I am 70 years of age. A long time and up to 40 a Day.
