looks good for a first car and when it's finished it'll look good for a 2nd and 3rd car no doubt unless bigrig ban's him for misbehaving I'd be stoked if it were my old man and I working on something together can't wait to help out with what I can

    Hey Scotty,

I know your pain, I have spent the last 13 months correcting the work that had been done by previous owners, who should never have picked up a spanner.

But sounds like your doing it right, from the ground up, should be an awesome rig when done.

    Good luck with it,

    Thanks boss.

Yep, I'm all for having a go, but when you end up completely stuffing the important parts it's time to put your hand up and ask for help - unfortunately it appears that many don't have access to knowledge and experience like us lucky few.

Good fun none the less ...

Haha - wouldn't matter, he's in Loooovvvve with it either way!!! lol

Got his first dose of the 'not so fun' work last night - started removing the harness and cleaning down the chassis (removed the hayman Reece also which had bolts that were content to stay so to speak!). But alas, full credit to his resolve, he knows it needs to be done, and after 4 days he's still pumped ... that's a commitment record for a teenager I reckon!!! lmao

Proud of him, and he's learning fast too - even realising "righty tighty, lefty loosey" doesn't apply if the bolt head isn't facing him and you're doing things under the car from the outside of the car.

Got him a new tray with side panels etc yesterday for a carton off a mate up here ... so he's even learning to use up all dads favours!!!! lol

Nice they all gotta learn the carton currency! Is often worth more than $'s when striking a deal. I was foreman on a $30mill abbotoir build that saw more building favors done with coopers than coin ;-)

    No sooner said mate!! lol

She's pretty stripped down now, with all seals and bearings being replaced (as well as new baffle/anti-rattle plates for the callipers). New inner oil seals in tomorrow and the assembly starts from there on the axle/diffs. Get it back to a rolling 'wreck' (lol) and clean down the chassis and respray with zinc paint. Got a new tray for him through a mate, and over the next few weeks/month or so, Macca will be hitting the panel work in the cabin. From there, windshield out, and panels and frame work painted up, and then re-assembly from there ... powering through it!! And loving it ....

And necessity has driven innovation - dead set pain in the @rse putting the new inner oil seals in, so took a 30mm socket, some flat steel, and welded the lot together and then ground the outer edges round (ish) to allow it to fit fully into the housing to make a seal press that stays flat against the surface of the seal to knock it in flush ... can't believe there's no tool available for this!!!
