Any decent diesel mech's on this site ????

Hey there I'm after either quick easy answer or diagrams of the mechanical diesel injection pump on the 2.8ltr RD28T on the 97 GQ.

Heres question : On the injection pump just in front of the "inlet banjo fuel bolt" there is a bolt which seems to be leaking on mine. Can I unbolt the injection pump & just replace the washer on this bolt or is it some sort of special DO NOT TOUCH bolt ?

Yes I know I should take it to a diesel specialist but I am 30km's out of town & I am a mechanic by trade just not 100% up to speed with diesel injection pumps.

Please any help would be appreciated..

Is there no diagrams in the manuals section here on the forum? Now im no expert but thought that only the CRD types were dangerous to play with because of the extreme pressures inside the fuel rail. so maybe wait for someone who knows what theyre on about or get a suit of armour and have a crack. I would.

IF YA DONT GET STUCK YA AINT TRYIN HARD ENOUGH........OR YA TOOK THE CHICKEN TRACK

I believe those little bolts may be attached to your governor set up inside the pump I have a workshop manual here if you can get me a pic of where it's leaking from I can give you a definite answer

Cheers for the quick replies & here is a pic of the bolt that is leaking.
As you said nissannewby I didn't want to play with it if its directly conected or attached to any main internal parts but if its just a bolt with a spring n copper washer behind it yeah too easy I will do that no worries.

Hey mate I have had a good look for you and it looks like its your governor shaft which is sealed with an o-ring this has to be installed in a certain spot you may find when you pull your pump off that the "bolt" is actually a locking nut with an allen key in the middle. Im not sure if these are the same but have a look at this link for an asembly of a pump. Its up to you whether you choose to tackle this but i would be sending it to a specialist as these things need to be kept absolutely clean.

Wow thats a very detailed article but did any1 else notice how much rust he left inside the pump on several parts ???? I'd hate to see his injectors after that goes through later on..
Thanks heaps nissannewby I guess its time to unbolt & take it to the specialist for this 1. Even though its only a little O ring theres just so so much that could go wrong.
