Last night I was coming home and heard and saw (taco) the clutch slip in 4th gear when I powered up a hill.
I suspect this means a new one . any advice on this.

Hey mate, mine did the exact same thing in 4th up hill.
I replaced mine with a Safari tuff clutch and never looked back. Highly recommend it!
It's only the beginning and could last for a while but the initial signs are there. Patrol clutches generally don't normally give you a lot of warning but I did drive mine for 12 months before replacing but who knows really...

A mate has also got those first signs. he has a tb42. How much do the safari tuff clutchs go for? My mates trol is just an old banger he got for $300 and only fangs around the bush on weekends, just wondering if its worth the extra $ for a safari?
Also, is there any difference between the TD42 and the TB42 clutchs?

Hi, numbers are different between the TD42 & TB42, this will fit both GQ & GU (clutch plate center springs are a bit heavier in the TD42 one). but I would use a NSK6830ST (Exedy Safari Tuff) I sell them for $573 plus freight.
If it is a 3lt prices start around the $1300 mark but would depend on the year of the 3lt. That price includes a solid mass flywheel and Safari Tuff kit.
I can freight Australia wide.
Cheers
David
The above is not a bad price either. You can obviously get them on Ebay slightly cheaper but these are from an online shop with no physical address and I have heard of a lot of "badge swapping" going on lately.
I paid a similar price down here in Melbourne and for an extra few dollars it was well worth the piece of mind you are buying genuine Exedy as well.
Cheers David. I'll let my mate know

Check out my Toy --> MudRunnerTD's GQ From the Ground Up
The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.
