    Fitting a snorkel with gas.

Can I run a snorkel from my seat to outside the car to prevent toxic fumes from killing those I have been pressured into chauffeuring?

Actually, No My real question is as follows.

I would like to fit a snorkel to my troll but have heard that it can affect the way your engine runs if you have LPG. Can anyone shed some this?

    Cheers!

You will need to put a balancing pipe on for LPG but I have heard that you can get away with this by just facing the snorkel backwards to reduce the ram air effect (forcing air inside when not accelerating).

Hopefully someone else can confirm this mate.

Hi Punder.... I have a TB42 with lpg and it runs sweet without a "balancing" pipe. Ive heard about them but mine runs fine without it. The gas system was overhauled before i bought the car and is nice and fresh so it runs well. The snorkel is also a remnant of the previous owner and is a home made job so maybe it doesnt have as much "ram air" effect that people talk of.

Depends on what type/brand if gas mixer the system is running. Some dont seem to require the balance pipe.

I had a system that did require the pipe but never had it fitted. Being a manual it would only ever stall out if you pushed the clutch in and coasted over about 40km/h.
Down changing as per normal never had a problem, particularly if blimping the throttle.
On some really windy days when sitting at the lights the idle would sometimes fluctuate, but would never stall out.

I drove the car with the snorkle on backwards for mud running etc, you could tell the difference as you coasted to a stop at the lights with casual downchanging. But not enough difference to make me run it like that all the time.

If you had an auto, the balance pipe would have to be done to make the car safe imo.

    Cheers
    Chris
