15 mm radius arm exstension

I hav an 07 wagon and am running 285x70x17 tyres and they have been rubbing the mud flaps. My question is a 15 mm radius arm extension kit as easy to fit as it looks or is there something to look out for ? , i have a 2" xgs extreme lift kit and does anybody know of any decent after market mud flaps on the market ? +1 for ripping off the flaps. If you dont have to touch radius arms then dont there can be a real bitch of a job most of the time. i spent 4 hours today putting new bushes in mine

Did Scotty get pulled over for no Front mud Flaps?? I did not think that was a roadworthy item? Certainly rear ones are.

To the OP***

Given that you only want to put the spacers in you should be able to put the front on chassis stands and undo both radius arm rear bolts and roll the diff forward and get them both in, you will not need to take the arms OFF.

You'd drop the sway bar off, unbolt the bottom mount on both shocks, pop the tie rod off one end and I reckon you'd get it done in a hour or two no problem.

This job is made a whole lot easier if you have a 24mm or 15/16th ratchet spanner. A cheap option is available at QLD trade tools. It's a ratcheting pry bar thing that has a 24mm socket one side and a 19mm the other.

Apart from having to get the nut off the chassis end of the arm, the rest is pretty easy. Probably worth grabbing a full set of mushroom bushes while you're pulling it apart. Even Genuine Nissan ones are less than $18ea (don't get poly ones though, get rubber) I think Road Runner Offroad sell some for under $10ea as well. If you do buy Nissan ones, there are three different densities available. 54476-VB000 is the softest ones, 54476-01J00 the middle and 54476-VC001 are the hardest, just FYI.

Even if you've never done this sort of thing before, you would easily knock this project over before lunch time in time to go wheeling in the arvo.

Here's the way I would do it:
Put chassis stands under the gearbox cross-member
remove the draglink and front panhard from the diff end and tie them up out of the way,
undo bottom bolts of the shocks and pop them out of their locations
Leave the tie rod in but undo your front tail shaft at the pinion end
Undo the rear of the radius arms and carefully roll the front diff forward
(having one person control a trolley jack under the diff pinion while another rolls the wheels is a good way to do this. Obviously adjusting the height of the pinion controls the height of the rear of the arms.)
Remove the washers and mushroom bushes.
Fit the radius arm spacers, followed by one of the mushrooms, do this on both sides. (if they don't include a washer as part of the spacer then make sure you put the original washer in between the spacer and the bush)
Feed the radius arms back into the mounts on the chassis and add the opposite mushroom and washer then nut and tighten up. I'm sure there is a torque setting but I tighten them till the bushes just begin to balloon out.

Job done.

Oh, you have to put everything you undid etc back too. Just do it in the reverse order to how you pulled it apart.

Remove jack stands before trying to drive off is another crash hot tip from someone I know too.

If you mean by extension kit just buy some radius arm spacers and keep your mudflaps. They go in the rear of the arms, one each end of the pin. It spaces your whole axle forward.
