ZD30 Airbox, What is the Windscreen Washer looking contraption?

    Hey Guys,

I just bought a ZD30 airbox and it came with what I first thought was a windscreen washer bottle, as it had a little electric pump on it.

It can't be that though as it has a roughly 1 inch pipe going from it straight into the inlet tract.
Any ZD30 owners out there that could tell me it's function?

And when installing the airbox for a TD42, are people removing the three (3) mesh screens in them?, since the screens don't need to "Mooshify" (technical term) the air for the AFM, as it aint there.

It sounds to me like your describing a catch can, but I dont know what the electric pump is.

Yeah mate remove the mesh not needed for a td42 and shortens that part of the airbox. As 45/70 said sounds like a catch can setup on the side .

    Hey 45/70 and nissannewby,

Looks like you beat me to it, the link you posted is what I was talking about.

It seems to be an "Air Resonator", or just a vacuum box to smooth out the control of boost and make it less spiky? (though wouldn't this box actually make it less responsive and laggier?)

Time to get into the shed and plumb this sucker up!

    Cheers for the help.

45/70 you should post that in a separate thread in the DYI section of this forum mate as it is going to be missed and wasted only putting it here bud. Nice work, great contribution.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

I suppose here is a good spot to ask.....

Is there supposed to be a rubber seal between the airbox and the lid?

Yes, it fits in the groove in the lid, that the base fits into.
The original is just some foam rubber. or you can get an o-ring from CBC p/n BS445A
